Girard Perregaux Press Conference

FJ Benjamin (Singapore) @ Cortina Paragon. October 2008

The Challenge

To display Girard-Perregaux watches within a baroque-style pavilion built to exhibit sixteen of the world’s most prestigious watch brands, including Girard-Perregaux. To gain fresh insight and ideas, the Luxury Division of F J Benjamin, local distributor of Girard-Perregaux, collaborated with LASALLE to hold a competition for its students. Eugene beat seventeen of his classmates and took home the first prize cash winnings of S$1,000. The winning concept was chosen for its interpretation of the Girard-Perregaux brand and its 150-year history. To highlight this heritage, he produced two showcases that reflected the 19th century lifestyles of Girard-Perregaux founders, Constant Girard and his wife Marie Perregaux. The showcases were miniature sets of their personal study and dressing room. Each showcase held six to eight watches.

Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

ArtScience Museum. December 2011

Project management for LASALLE in the creation of a unique kinetic Christmas tree for ArtScience Museum.

Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree (2011), by Mr. Lim Shengen, is a site-inspired sculptural light installation that intends to highlight ArtScience Museum's unique characteristics.

While designing and testing took about a month or so off site, the artist, a small group of LASALLE students and staff, including myself had to install the tree overnight after operating hours.

Students create murals to boost awareness of hawker heritage. April 2015

Titled "Hawker (wall) Talks", the project showcases 18 mural works painted by 306 Diploma Level 1 students. The murals are spread across 3 hawker centres, Albert Hawker Centre, Berseh Hawker Centre and Tekka Hawker Centre. All murals were completed over the course of 3 days.

The first hand experience in overseeing the concurrent mural painting process at the 3 sites was a challenging and fulfilling one. From proposing, planning and execution, seeing everyone contributing as a big team to complete the 18 murals in 3 days is something memorable. As the saying goes, "You are as good as the company you keep." I'm glad that I have the wonderful and professional colleagues with me on this project.
